Re: The Massey, “Pre-Fire Plan Document”
Mr. Curtis Massey,
In introduction, I am the Chairman of the Toronto Fire Services High Rise Committee and a working participant in the development of the High Rise Procedures and Standard Operating Guidelines for our firefighting personnel. I would like to say that your document is one of the most thorough and professionally produced Plans that I have had the opportunity to study. The High Rise structure itself creates many challenges and obstacles to Emergency Responders that are as unique as each individual structure itself.
The information that is generated in your “Pre-Plan” document addresses each structures uniqueness and yet presents the information in a format that is standardized and easily adaptable by all Emergency Responders.
While I personally have not used your document under emergency fire conditions I have discussed the merits of this “Pre-Plan” with Toronto Fire Services District Chief Brian Rhodes. He was fortunate enough to have this document at a recent High Rise fire situation. The “Pre-Plan” information and its format were easy to understand and adaptable to the Toronto Fire Services High Rise Procedures for this type of emergency. He was able to mitigate the situation, in his opinion, in a more efficient and effective manner with the information that your “Pre-Plan” provided.
I hope that more High Rise structures utilize your proven services so that all our communities structures and people can be protected to the maximum standards available.
